Q: What elections? When and where are they held?
A:
Elections for EBNO's Board of Directors are held each May, at EBNO's Annual Meeting (the May installment of the Monthly Meeting). For 2011, the Annual Meeting is Tuesday, May 17th from 7-8:30pm at The Root Cellar, 94 Washington Avenue. Refreshments will be served.

Q: What positions are up for election?
A:
A total of seven (7) seats on the Board. In addition to four Executive Committee seats (President, Vice-President, Secretary and Treasurer), three "at-large" seats on the Board are up for grabs. Every seat on the Board is open to nominations. Current board members can run for reelection, but other members may challenge them. Executive Committee seats are nominated separately, so nominees must run for a specific seat, or one of the at-large seats.

Q: What do Board members do?
A:
All Board members serve without compensation and can expect to volunteer at least 3-5 hours per month carrying out their duties. All Board members are responsible for:
  • Managing EBNO's day-to-day affairs
  • Raising money for EBNO's operating expenses and activities
  • Managing the organization's finances
  • Monitoring compliance with the bylaws (as well as federal and state laws governing 501(c)3 nonprofits) and avoiding conflicts of interest.
In addition, Board members are ambassadors to the community, getting the word out about EBNO's activities and inviting others to get involved. For more detailed descriptions of Executive Committee positions see EBNO's bylaws (sidebar).

Q: Who can vote?
A:
Every member of EBNO can cast one vote. All votes must be cast in person. Proxy or absentee voting is not permitted.

Q: Who can run for office?
A:
Any individual member of EBNO or any representative of a member business or nonprofit organization can run for any position on the Board. Executive Committee seats are nominated separately, so nominees must run for a specific seat, or one of the at-large seats.

Q: Who is a member of EBNO?
A:

Any business or nonprofit organization operating in East Bayside can be a member and appoint a representative to EBNO. A:

Q: I still have questions! Who can answer them?
